This website has three main sections which you can browse through.

The first section, titled ‘Voices’, is the Oral History section of the website. Here you can find oral history interviews from the 1980s up till the present day. A variety of topics are covered: ‘Experiencing War’, ‘Curing the body’, ‘Fishing’ and ‘Transport’. Much more will be added to this ever-expanding list. Together with these oral histories, you can also find photographs, video reels and ephemera donated by the interviewees.

The second section, ‘Showcase’, portrays a number of collections which the National Archives of Malta has acquired from private donations. Some of these collections showcase the work of individuals who had dedicated their lives to capturing history.

The third section, titled ‘Citizen Archivist’, is where we are asking for your active participation in cataloguing our collections. People you recognise can be tagged, and you can also insert the date and/or the scene/event/place/people portrayed in the photograph. Your tags and comments will be reviewed and approved for publishing.

Join us! Every contribution you make helps unlock a piece of history.
